"Possible. More possible than impossible. More impossible than possible. Impossible."
2016
On January 28, an exhibition of young artists opened in The Kitchen Workshop, marking the culmination of the first residency at The Kitchen Workshop. Curators Masha Komarova and Gleb Nechaev invited residency participants Angelina Merenkova, Maxim Emelyanov, Roman Kanashchuk, Ilya Fedotov-Fedorov, Lera Lerner, Philip Ilinsky, Evgenia Bonevert, and Leta Dobrovolskaya to dedicate their works to the theme of self-limitation and contemporary asceticism.
The theme proposed by the curators found expression in the spatial design of the exhibition as well. The basis was the principle of partial fragmentation of the space, achieved through the creation of visual barriers and local accent lighting.
Working under conditions of constant limitations of various kinds paradoxically helped synchronise the signified with the signifier, form with content.
