"The N.A. Nekrasov Library Greenhouse"
2019
A sanctuary of warmth.
At the main entrance of Danilovsky Market, an installation has blossomed - the Nekrasov Greenhouse.
Inside the greenhouse, a pop-up library with numerous books, ranging from Russian classics to media theory, awaits. Here, all interested individuals can acquire a library card, borrow books for home reading, and return those already perused. Furthermore, within the greenhouse, you have the option to request the free delivery of any book from the library's collection.
"We consider it vital to explore new urban formats, to astonish our partners, visitors, and even ourselves with the possible appearance and operation of a library," stressed Maria Privalova, the library's General Director. "If there are still those who perceive a library as a dusty repository of unwanted books, this bright and welcoming greenhouse aims to convince them otherwise. We've curated a collection of appealing, contemporary books and anticipate that urban dwellers will find it natural to enjoy a snack at the food court, grab a takeaway coffee - all while taking along a good book."
