The Yard, the Path and the Field.
2018-2022

Yard.
The territory of the district consists of different yards both public and private. The image depicts the private courtyard of a man who lives in a compact two-story concrete frame house clad in common blocks. Despite being compact his residence accommodates a parking space inside the house on the ground floor.
Since he is an architect, nearly half of his living area is a working space. The foreground of the image illustrates an overgrown garden, with a glade for barbecues and a trodden path leading to it. The garden is not necessarily well-maintained, however, it serves well as a place to have a rest and a calm distraction from work.
In the background one may see the rear elevation of a modest diner that faces Kindzmarauli street, it is a well-known place for local truck drivers.
The public function of the diner is hidden behind the opaque glass block wall, yet the silhouettes of the guests can be noticed shimmering through in the evening.

Path.
The district is pierced with barely noticeable yet commonly used passages. The drawing emphasizes the path that connects yards of two adjacent buildings.
The volume on the right is a metal workshop and it is one of the key buildings within the area, providing employment to a significant number of locals. On the left one can see the quarters of a young couple. Both residents are involved in a workshop production, however the shape of their house was defined and resolved otherwise. It is an elongated split level volume with a private courtyard room in the middle. The longer wing of the building is a garage-workshop, where the owner offers car repair services in his spare time.

Field.
This area can be determined as both urban and rural simultaneously. Some locals cultivate land according to the rural land use traditions.
The lower part of the image shows agricultural land which is owned by a family living in one of the largest houses in the neighborhood. On the right one may see the shop owned by this family where locally grown vegetables, berries and fruits are being sold.
On the edge of the field there is a house of an old woman. She lived at this place much longer than the other residents of the district, thereby her house was rebuilt more times than the ones of the others. Still her humble shack stands and somewhat protects the rural area from the urban invasion as the latter is dramatically sprawling.
